Dr. Neeraj Hatekar

Dr. Hatekar teaches Econometrics and Machine Learning as part of the Academy's PGP Economics program and also its online courses platform.

Abhinay Muthoo
Visiting Professor of Economics Abhinay Muthoo is a Visiting Professor of Economics at the Meghnad Desai Academy of Economics.   Abhinay is an economist, with broad interests.

Abhinay was educated at the London School of Economics (LSE) and the University of Cambridge.    He has 37 years of teaching and research experience, across several universities including Cambridge, the LSE, Harvard, Bristol, Warwick and Essex. He has published extensively in top economics journals such as the Review of Economic Studies, Economic Journal, Journal of Economic Theory,  Journal of Public Economics, and Journal of Development Economics.  Abhinay is one of the world’s authorities on the subject of negotiations.  His interests extend to several areas of public policy.  He founded a policy lab in 2013, is a member of the UK Cross Parliamentary Party Youth Violence Commission, and a Fellow of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR).

Abhinay has 20 years of leadership and management experience.  He has been a professor, and the head of the departments of economics at the universities of Warwick and Essex.   He has a taught many courses at all levels over the past 37 years, including microeconomics, game theory, development economics, industrial organization and political economy.

Prof. Amlesh Kanekar has 30 years of experience in Information Technology in the Banking & Finance domain. His first 8 years were in Tata Unisys Limited (now merged into Tata Consultancy Services), followed by the next 10 years as an international independent consultant on Unisys products and finally the last 12 years with Oracle Financial Services Software Limited (OFSS). His Leadership roles include Global Consulting Head for Digital Banking, Product development head for Digital Banking, Product QA head for Core Banking and Digital Banking, Delivery head for the virtual bank in Japan for Core Banking & Digital Banking

Dr. Tirthankar Patnaik teaches the Advanced Macroeconomics course as part of the Academy's PGD Economics program. He has more than 22 years of experience across macro and portfolio strategy, quantitative finance, and consumer banking analytics and Indian equity markets. He is currently serving as the Chief Economist at the National Stock Exchange of India Limited.
Dr. Amol Agrawal
Adjunct Faculty, Macroeconomics

Dr. Agrawal teaches Macroeconomics as part of the Academy's PGP Economics program.  He is a prolific writer in Economics (https://sites.google.com/site/amolagr/homepage), the author of several, seminal research papers and a thought leader who has inspired a generation of Economics students in India.

Dr. Pushpa Trivedi

Dr. Trivedi teaches International Political Economy as part of the Academy's PGP Economics program.

Dr. Ishita Ghoshal

Prachi Ganu
Adjunct Faculty, Finance

Professor Prachi teaches critical topics such as Debt Markets, Financial Statements Analysis, Valuation as part of the Foundation and Corporate Finance courses within the Academy's PGP Economics & PGP Economics and Data Science programs.

Professor Prachi brings to the classroom her rich corporate experience such as Executive Director at JP Morgan, India and ICICI Bank.  She is a Chartered Accountant and a Certified Valuer of Securities & Financial Assets (Insolvency & Bankruptcy Board of India).

Professor Prachi is passionate about identifying students who have a keen interest in finance; grooming, guiding and preparing them for careers in Finance.

Ameya Abhyankar
Adjunct Faculty, Finance

Professor Ameya teaches topics such as Equity Markets, Derivatives, Risk in equity as part of the Foundation and Corporate Finance courses within the Academy's PGP Economics & PGP Economics and Data Science programs.  Additionally, he teaches the Quantitative Finance elective for the PGP Data Science and Finance program.

Professor Ameya brings to the classroom her rich corporate experience at IndusInd Bank (Risk Management) and Nomura Research Institute Financial Technologies (Consultant), Deloitte India and Wipro Technologies.  His qualifications include Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA, USA), Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF), Fitch Learning UK, MBA Finance and Bachelor Of Engineering.

Dr. Anirudh Tagat

Dr. Anirudh teaches Behavioural Economics as part of the Academy's PGP Economics program.  He also designs course curriculum for courses in Public Policy as part of MDAE's online courses platform.

Sonal Ghanshani

Professor Ghanshani has a Masters Degree in Statistics from the Mumbai University. 

She is an expert in teaching in the areas of Predictive Modelling, Data Science and Machine Learning. 

Her rich industry experience spans the following areas

  • Brand perception surveys across customer bases
  • Customer experience and process audits for sustenance
  • Internal Conviction Survey to analyse reduction in sales
  • Models inclusive for change expressed by stake holders including management, employees, customers
  • Benchmarking customer centricity and designing best-fit practices and KPI metrics
Dr. Sandhya Krishnan
Assistant Professor, Economics, Econometrics
  • Ph.D. from the University of Amsterdam
  • MA in Economics from the University of Mumbai
  • Teaches courses in the areas of applied econometrics and development economics

  • Dr. Sandhya has earlier worked at the Mumbai School of Economics and Public Policy, University of Mumbai, at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy and at the EPW Research Foundation in different capacities. She has also been a visiting faculty at the National Institute of Securities Markets and Quant RoboAnalytics Solutions, where she has taught courses on data science and business analytics. Dr. Sandhya has published papers in journals such as the Economic and Political Weekly and with publishing houses such as Routledge.
    Shailesh Goregaokar

  • Masters in Mathematics and a Masters in Computer Science from IIT Bombay
  • Worked in the IT industry for almost 30 years before taking up his passion, teaching

  • As a part of the corporate world, he had organized and taught in technical training programs. He is also part of visiting faculty at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai where he has taught cross-faculty courses in Mathematics for the Economics, Life Science and Microbiology Departments. His style of teaching is to drill-in concepts in an intuitive way making use of thought-provoking puzzles, examples and class participation. His class sessions build students’ aptitude in the subject while being thoroughly enjoyable.
    Dr. Avadhoot Nadkerni
    Visiting Faculty He has also taught at the St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai and the SNDT Women’s University; and, on a visiting basis at the IIMs, Ahmedabad and Indore, and the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune. His areas of interest include International Economics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics.
